Dwayne and Leila Moorehouse met in 2007 while stationed at Camp Carroll in South Korea. They married in 2009 in Madison, Alabama, where they still live today.
Dwayne retired from the Army in 2016 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after 23 years of active and reserve service. After leaving the military, a coworker told him something that changed everything: veterans could request a re-evaluation of their VA disability rating. Dwayne had no idea this was possible.
He and Leila each went through the re-evaluation process themselves. Both were later rated 100% disabled. That experience opened their eyes: how many other veterans didn't know this option existed?
That question led them to start Eagle Rising. The company's name and rising-eagle mark come from the insignia of the Warrant Officer rank Dwayne held in the Army, a symbol of expertise and leadership.
The business started small. Their first office was a hall closet in their house with the door taken off and a desk pushed in. Since then, Eagle Rising has helped more than 7,000 veterans pursue a more accurate disability rating. Today, it remains a hands-on family business where veterans get personal attention, not a call center where your case is just another number.
